I juuuust purchased WB5, and the skins look super, and it make me want to make one with transparency, and shadows and such. I can't figure out how to make it work! I am running the free skinstudio... please tell me that's not the problem. If anyone could help out, I'd appriciate it!

what are you trying to make work..specifically?

Just make sure you have the transparency box checked for the image your working on and make sure you are importing a PNG with transparency to the desired place in SKS.

Thanks for the repy! I opened a PSD with my translucent window borders, and no background, and I cut the top frame of the window. However, the transparent and translucent buttons are disabled! Is there a way to edit the code manually to add transparency? I tried inserting perpixel=1 and trans=1, but it says it doesn't recognize it. Heres a screenshot...

OK, looks like the problem here is ur trying to use a translucent image in the NORMAL frames section of SKS.. you need to choose Active Window - Translucent from the dropdown menu..there you will find the checkboxes are not disabled.

Good luck !

from the screenshot it looks like a good skin and would probably go very well with the litestep theme obsidian (link below) have you thought of what to call it yet?
anyways, good luck with the skin, I hope to see the finished one soon

Ah! Darn those drop down menus! Thanks for the help Journeyman, and thanks for the luck ARTIMUS! I have transparency now, but i'm still having a lot of difficulties. If anyone wants to take pitty on a newbie and tell me what I'm doing wrong, that would be nice...

The top image here is what it looks like in skin studio... and the bottom image is what it looks like applied. The shadow turned some freaky color and a white border appeared around the window!

Ha! OK so .25 seconds after I posted all that, I figured out I didn't have translucent set. I think i'm good to go for now! Thanks everyone.

have fun with this... if it doesn't frustrate you too much and make you kill your comp that is also, I think for the stuff inside the frame a nice brushed steel look or something with a glass effect would look awsome
again, good luck
